Thanks for visiting my little shop here on the web where I make and sell custom Superhero Capes for kids! I hand make all the capes myself from my home using only the best methods and materials. I believe every child is a Superhero and doesn’t need a cape to prove it — but has so much more fun with a colorful, rad cape flying behind them. :)
What You Can Win:
I’m taking this opportunity to debut my brand new product: Ready-to-Ship capes! I have so many orders for custom capes that keep me busy, I often have a production turnaround time of up to two weeks! This works for most people, but sometimes people need a cape that can be shipped out to them same day for a birthday party that weekend! That’s where the Ready-to-Ship capes come in. They’re still made by me with the same high level of workmanship, but they don’t come with an initial on them & you don’t get to customize the different fabrics and colors. They’re just that — premade and Ready-to-Ship!
Here’s a sneak peek, but look for more Ready-to-Ship capes being posted in the coming days. (Make sure to subscribe to my blog through your RSS feeder so you don’t miss any of my upcoming posts!)
How to Enter:
Just leave a comment on this post stating one thing that makes you happy. That’s it! One comment per person, winner will be chosen and notified on June 1st via the random number generator. Winner gets their choice of ONE of the Ready-to-Ship capes above. International entrants welcome!
Now Go Win!
Thanks for stopping by Plum Pear Apple! Now go back to the Sew, Mama, Sew blog to enter to win more great stuff!
A couple housekeeping notes (and some fun stuff at the end!):
I am currently FINALLY caught up with my orders from the 3 weeks that I was on vacation at the end of August. If you placed an order with me during that time, it has either been mailed or is included in the next batch that is going to the post office tomorrow. THANK YOU so much for your patience and understanding … I thought I had properly planned enough time for me to work and get caught up but apparently I had planned poorly. I felt so bad that I was behind for so long – but I am committed to keeping my quality top-notch and didn’t feel there were any areas I could compromise for the sake of getting the capes done faster.
Planning ahead to Christmas and the upcoming holiday season — I have been thinking about what my method is going to be for holiday orders — I want to have a balance of getting as many capes made for gifts as I possibly can – while still being able to enjoy the holiday season with my family. I have decided to have a holiday order cut-off date of November 15th. If you place an order with me before that date, I will guarantee that you will have it by December 24th. If you place an order with me after November 15th, you will be placed on a waiting list and your capes will be completed on a first come first serve basis, but with no December 24th guarantee.
I have had some issues with emails lately – 99.9% of the time I answer an email within 24 hours from when I receive it. If you have placed an order with me or sent me an email for any other reason and haven’t seen a reply back from me (I send a confirmation email when you place an order with your order total) within about a day – PLEASE check your spam folders. Especially if you have a Hotmail account – they especially like to mark my email address as spam. Better yet, add erin@plumpearapple.com to your “safe list” right after you email me. I need you to see and read the confirmation email – sometimes customers don’t give me all the pertinent information or I have a question for you about your order.
I’ve always wanted Plum Pear Apple to give back to the wonderful blog community and be involved as much as it can – more that just any other handmade-wares boutique. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of some wonderful causes and giveaways so far – and I know there are many more opportunities to come (watch for an announcement soon for a great cause I’m so excited to be be involved with!). If you have a giveaway, promotion, cause, fundraiser or run a review blog – please get in contact with me. I may not be able to be involved right away, but I will keep your blog and name for future reference.
And lastly, I am quickly approaching my 200th Superhero Cape ordered! This number is AMAZING to me — I am so grateful for all the wonderful support I am getting and the amazing people that are believing in me and ordering my cute capes. In honor of this milestone – I’ve decided to have a little contest: Whoever happens to order lucky cape #200 will win that cape for free – as well as another cape to send as a gift to a friend! This way the Superhero love is spread and TWO people will get to be great winners. (No, I won’t tell you exactly how many cape orders I have had so far, but I will tell you that I expect to hit #200 in the next week or so … so if you’re thinking about ordering soon you have a good chance of winning!)
First of all, welcome to all the Simple Mom readers! I am so excited to be a part of the great giveaway that SimpleMom.net is holding. If you haven’t seen it yet — you must go visit her site and enter the awesome contest she’s hosting in honor of her birthday! There are 7 amazing prizes and they’re all going to ONE winner. Talk about the motherload of prizes!
I love when I get a whole load of capes ready at the same time to ship — these cute ones went out last week and were the last batch before I went on vacation. Don’t they look amazing all lined up in a row like that?
I will be back from vacation next week and will be going full force into cape making for Halloween and then the Holiday season. I expect to be busy so get your orders in early!
We have a winner in the Superhero Cape giveaway! I wanted to do the drawing this morning, but Mason wasn’t being cooperative … then came nap time … then he wanted to watch Cars (but only 15 minutes before he got bored) … then he wanted to eat … then he wanted to color … pretty much anything but sit in the chair Mama wanted him to and pick out a slip of paper! Ah, life with a toddler!
We finally got around to it (with Mason only being a teeny bit cranky, as you’ll see) and so who is the big winner? Watch the video to find out (or you can skip ahead if you don’t like videos).

Congratulations Hillary of Hillary Howland Photography! It looks like she’s got a darling daughter, Isabelle, that is just about the perfect age for a Superhero cape. Plus, Hillary is an AWESOME photographer so I know she’s going to get some great shots of the cape in use. I’m so excited! Congratulations, Hillary!
Thanks so much to everyone who entered! I can’t believe the turn out I got for my very first giveaway. All you awesome people that posted my button and wrote about it on your blogs – I’m so grateful! I have to share one of my favorite entries in the contest — Tucker, who blogged about my contest on his website, Epic Meltdowns. Let’s just say that his post had me laughing so hard I was falling out of my chair!
I am so in love with the Candy Stripes fabric! I made a cape with it today with a magenta outside – and it turned out SO cute, I wanted to keep it for myself!
I am SO amazed and THANKFUL for all the awesome people who have been helping me get the word out about my Superhero Capes. I can’t believe I have had 120+ entries to my little giveaway so far – and there is still an hour and a half left to enter. :)
I can’t wait to see who wins and what color cape they choose! Make sure to come back tomorrow – I will record Mason drawing the winner and posting that video sometime tomorrow afternoon!
The first batch of Superhero Capes are beginning to make their way out into the world and soon on to the backs of little Superheroes everywhere!
A little sneak peek for one of my most favorite little Wonder Girls …
I’ll post more pictures in the coming days … I can’t decide if I want to post full pictures of the capes before they get to their new homes. I don’t want to spoil the surprise for anyone!
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a free cape by commenting on the post right before this one. Only 4 more days to enter!
Welcome to the grand opening of Plum Pear Apple Designs! I make colorful and fun Superhero capes for Superhero kids! I started out when my son, Mason, went for 72 straight hours without taking his (borrowed from his cousins) cape off. I decided he needed one of his own and designed and created his original blue & yellow cape. Now it’s his Super Mason outfit and he never goes for too long without asking for help to put it on (”cape, Mama?”) and then proceeding to fly around the house, arms outstretched, taking stairs 2 at a time and jumping off the furniture.
Please feel free to poke around my website and read about what I offer in my capes. All my capes are made by me – both machine and hand sewn so they are very durable while still having the charm of looking handmade!
If you like what you see … feel free to snag my button to post on your website, or better yet, order a cape for YOUR little Superhero!
AND – a Grand Opening Giveaway – leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a custom Superhero cape (for your own Superhero kid or a GREAT gift!). Get a bonus entry making a post about my Superhero capes on your own blog (just leave me a link to the post in your comment). And get ONE MORE BONUS ENTRY for posting my button or a link back to my site on your blog!
Thanks for helping me spread the word!
(Contest will be open until midnight MST on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Once the contest is over, I’ll cut pieces of paper with your name on them – one for each of your possible three entries. I’ll then use the very scientific method of putting slips of paper in a hat and letting my 22 month old toddler pick one out. I’ll videotape the drawing for authenticity! I’ll announce the winner on Wednesday, July 16th and contact you to get the information for your custom cape!)
I'm back and taking cape orders again. Current production time is 10-14 days (not including shipping time). Please order early for Christmas presents as I am not sure when my cut off date this year will be for Christmas delivery.
Keep in mind each cape is custom and 100% handmade by me -- that takes time to complete. I hope you feel my Superhero capes are worth the wait!
Thanks for coming by to learn about my Superhero capes! All of my capes are made by me, Erin, with my 2 year old toddler, Mason, close at hand supervising all the details.
My capes are BRIGHT & COLORFUL. I believe they should be as cheerful as your kids' personalities! You won't find any bland or dingy colors here.
All capes are machine sewn for durability, with the emblems sewn by hand for a more homemade look.
My capes have a Velcro closure at the neck for safety.
Capes measure 20" from neck to hem (fits kids aged 2-7).
Capes Are Good For All Occasions
Superhero capes are good for both BOYS and GIRLS alike! Every kid likes to imagine they are a Superhero that can leap over tall buildings and save people in peril!
Superhero capes make great gifts! What kid wouldn't want to get an awesome Superhero cape for his birthday!?
Capes also make a great prop for anyone doing professional childrens photography. I can make you a cape without an initial so you can take it to your shoots and use it for any Superhero Kid!
Are you a teacher? Read what this teacher is doing and consider getting a Superhero Cape to use for birthdays or classroom celebrations -- what about a weekly spotlight where a little one can be Superhero of the Day?!
