This little cutie is the nephew of one of my friends in my neighborhood. She was one of my first customers and bought Oliver a Superhero Cape for his birthday!
What a handsome little guy! And it does look like the cape is giving him a bit more spring in his step – doesn’t it! ;)
Have fun, Oliver! I hope you had a great birthday – and I hope you have so much fun with your new cape!
Here’s another adorable cape made with one of my favorite fabrics – the candy stripes! I LOVE how happy and cheerful it looks! Little Olivia is going to be so darling flying around in her cape!
A couple announcements:
I will be out of town on vacation from August 14th to 27th. All orders I receive before August 6th will be shipped by August 14th, and all orders I receive after August 6th will not be shipped until at least September 3rd, but I will reply to you individually on your exact shipping date.
If you need a cape by mid September, your best bet is to get your order in sooner than later. I’m sorry for this big gap in production time, but my brother in law is getting married out of state!
Also, my grand opening price of $20.00 per cape will be ending sometime in early to mid September. I will be raising prices per cape just slightly to better cover costs of material and my time. I will announce in advance the date that prices will be changing so keep an eye out for that, too.
And lastly — I donated one of my custom capes for a giveaway to celebrate the grand opening of the awesome website MomDot.com. You have to go see this site – it’s a huge listing of all types of mom blogs and mom boutiques. The girls that run it are fabulous – and they have raised over $4400.00 in prizes to give away for their grand opening that lasts until the end of August! There are SO MANY awesome prizes! If you are the type of person that never wins anything – you have to go see their site and enter the giveaways, there will be a different one almost ever single day. You can see my giveaway and enter to win a cape by me at this post.
I’ve got some fun things in the works for capes and the upcoming holidays of Halloween and Christmas! Make sure you check back here often to see pictures of new capes I’m making and read about the fun things we’re doing!
When a new order comes in for a Superhero Cape, I can’t wait to see the combination of colors & patterns that has been chosen. So far there hasn’t been any 2 capes made exactly the same – which I love, because each one is unique and special in it’s own way.
Superheros Liam and Mikayla had capes that came out just darling! I love the cotton ball emblem shape – so perfect for a little girl.
Another of my new favorites is the candy stripes fabric — it goes perfect with any bright color of fabric for the front and just looks so cheery as a lining! I only have a little more of the candy stripe fabric in stock – I bought all they had left on the bolt and they told me they didn’t know if they’d be getting it in stock again! So if you like it you need to order it quickly before it’s gone!
Here’s this one again – I adore the combination of the pink and orange. Not your typical colors you’d think of for a little girl – but it just works, isn’t TOO girly and turned out super cute!
The newest Superhero we have outfitted is Superhero Gweniveve! Like all TRUE Superheros she has a great Superhero nickname – Gweniepants. Look how cute she looks all suited-up and ready to go:
Look how ADORABLE that shadow is of her cute little pigtails – I’m dying here, so cute! And look how FAST that cape makes her run – she’s a pretty fast little girl anyways but in that cape she just ZOOMS!
All Superheros need a break from time to time and Gwenie looks adorable as she take a little rest at the park!
And all Superheroes sometimes get a tad bit cranky when it’s time to go home from the park to take their naps.
We have a winner in the Superhero Cape giveaway! I wanted to do the drawing this morning, but Mason wasn’t being cooperative … then came nap time … then he wanted to watch Cars (but only 15 minutes before he got bored) … then he wanted to eat … then he wanted to color … pretty much anything but sit in the chair Mama wanted him to and pick out a slip of paper! Ah, life with a toddler!
We finally got around to it (with Mason only being a teeny bit cranky, as you’ll see) and so who is the big winner? Watch the video to find out (or you can skip ahead if you don’t like videos).

Congratulations Hillary of Hillary Howland Photography! It looks like she’s got a darling daughter, Isabelle, that is just about the perfect age for a Superhero cape. Plus, Hillary is an AWESOME photographer so I know she’s going to get some great shots of the cape in use. I’m so excited! Congratulations, Hillary!
Thanks so much to everyone who entered! I can’t believe the turn out I got for my very first giveaway. All you awesome people that posted my button and wrote about it on your blogs – I’m so grateful! I have to share one of my favorite entries in the contest — Tucker, who blogged about my contest on his website, Epic Meltdowns. Let’s just say that his post had me laughing so hard I was falling out of my chair!
I am so in love with the Candy Stripes fabric! I made a cape with it today with a magenta outside – and it turned out SO cute, I wanted to keep it for myself!
I am SO amazed and THANKFUL for all the awesome people who have been helping me get the word out about my Superhero Capes. I can’t believe I have had 120+ entries to my little giveaway so far – and there is still an hour and a half left to enter. :)
I can’t wait to see who wins and what color cape they choose! Make sure to come back tomorrow – I will record Mason drawing the winner and posting that video sometime tomorrow afternoon!
The first batch of Superhero Capes are beginning to make their way out into the world and soon on to the backs of little Superheroes everywhere!
A little sneak peek for one of my most favorite little Wonder Girls …
I’ll post more pictures in the coming days … I can’t decide if I want to post full pictures of the capes before they get to their new homes. I don’t want to spoil the surprise for anyone!
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a free cape by commenting on the post right before this one. Only 4 more days to enter!
Welcome to the grand opening of Plum Pear Apple Designs! I make colorful and fun Superhero capes for Superhero kids! I started out when my son, Mason, went for 72 straight hours without taking his (borrowed from his cousins) cape off. I decided he needed one of his own and designed and created his original blue & yellow cape. Now it’s his Super Mason outfit and he never goes for too long without asking for help to put it on (“cape, Mama?”) and then proceeding to fly around the house, arms outstretched, taking stairs 2 at a time and jumping off the furniture.
Please feel free to poke around my website and read about what I offer in my capes. All my capes are made by me – both machine and hand sewn so they are very durable while still having the charm of looking handmade!
If you like what you see … feel free to snag my button to post on your website, or better yet, order a cape for YOUR little Superhero!
AND – a Grand Opening Giveaway – leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a custom Superhero cape (for your own Superhero kid or a GREAT gift!). Get a bonus entry making a post about my Superhero capes on your own blog (just leave me a link to the post in your comment). And get ONE MORE BONUS ENTRY for posting my button or a link back to my site on your blog!
Thanks for helping me spread the word!
(Contest will be open until midnight MST on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Once the contest is over, I’ll cut pieces of paper with your name on them – one for each of your possible three entries. I’ll then use the very scientific method of putting slips of paper in a hat and letting my 22 month old toddler pick one out. I’ll videotape the drawing for authenticity! I’ll announce the winner on Wednesday, July 16th and contact you to get the information for your custom cape!)
I'm back and taking cape orders again. Current production time is 10-14 days (not including shipping time). Please order early for Christmas presents as I am not sure when my cut off date this year will be for Christmas delivery.
Keep in mind each cape is custom and 100% handmade by me -- that takes time to complete. I hope you feel my Superhero capes are worth the wait!
Thanks for coming by to learn about my Superhero capes! All of my capes are made by me, Erin, with my 2 year old toddler, Mason, close at hand supervising all the details.
My capes are BRIGHT & COLORFUL. I believe they should be as cheerful as your kids' personalities! You won't find any bland or dingy colors here.
All capes are machine sewn for durability, with the emblems sewn by hand for a more homemade look.
My capes have a Velcro closure at the neck for safety.
Capes measure 20" from neck to hem (fits kids aged 2-7).
